A home town favorite is the Blue Ribbon winner Colby Cheese from Deutsch Kase Haus Cheese Factory in the Shipshewana area. Their pepper jack cheese also recently won second place at the U.S. Championship Cheese Contest in the pepper flavored American-style cheese category. 
In January of 2009, Deutsch Kase Haus was purchased by Guggisberg Cheese who has a long list of awards and accomplishments and they continue to make cheese at locations in Indiana and Ohio. Guggisberg was awarded Ohio Grand Champion Cheese maker in the years 2002, 2004, 2005, and 2009.
